Gorey Relief Road Project (Ballytegan Avenue)

Gorey Relief Road Project (Ballytegan Avenue)

Transport Insights is delighted to be partnering with Fehily Timoney & Company in advancing planning and design of the proposed Gorey Relief Road (Ballytegan Avenue) project on behalf of Wexford County Council. The proposed road project shall provide a new multi-modal corridor linking Ballytegan Avenue (and the L5046 Ballytegan Road) with the R772 Gorey Road. The route includes a new bridge over the R772 and the Rosslare to Dublin railway line. The road will enable development of lands at St. Waleran’s Demesne to the north of Gorey. The road scheme has been included in the Government’s recently announced Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund (June 2026), acknowledging the scheme’s significant potential in supporting delivery of additional housing.

A Part 8 application for the project was published in April 2026 and following a period of consultation the project’s Part 8 application was recently approved by Wexford County Council in July 2026. Transport Insights has provided traffic and transport support to the project including junction modelling analysis; junction optioneering support; active travel preliminary design support; completion of a Traffic and Transport Assessment; and project appraisal services, including a Preliminary Business Case (in line with DfT’s Transport Appraisal Framework (TAF)).
