Indoor Recreation and Outdoor Sports Park (iRos), Roscommon Town

Transport Insights is delighted to be partnering with McAdam Design in relation to the proposed Indoor Recreation and Outdoor Sports Park (iRos) development on behalf of Roscommon County Council. The proposal involves the redevelopment and extension of the Roscommon Leisure Centre, Ardnanagh, Roscommon. The development shall include extension of the existing leisure centre with new indoor facilities along with replacement of existing outdoor pitches including new 3G pitches, play area, perimeter active travel trail, etc. Site access and egress arrangements shall be enhanced, comprising improvements to the existing vehicular site access junction, provision of a new site access junction, and a new internal one-way system along with increased car, cycle and bus parking facilities.

A Part 8 application for the iRos development was published in April 2026 and following a period of consultation the project’s Part 8 application was approved by Roscommon County Council in June 2026. Transport Insights has provided traffic and transport support to McAdam Design including a Traffic and Transport Assessment, Mobility Management Plan, junction modelling support, active travel permeability advice and preliminary design support.
