Life-Sciences Facility Masterplan

Galway City Council has recently granted planning permission for additional car parking and sustainable travel infrastructure at a large life-sciences facility located in the Ballybrit Industrial Estate. As part of a multi-disciplinary planning and design team, led by PM Group, Transport Insights provided transport consultancy support in advancing the proposed development, including provision of preliminary transport engineering design advice, and preparation of a Traffic and Transport Assessment and Mobility Management Plan.

Potential traffic and transport impacts was one of the key considerations of the planning application and extensive engagement with stakeholders (e.g. GCC, NTA) was undertaken to confirm and address concerns regarding potential traffic impacts on the public road network and alignment with local and national policy. The granted application included a Campus Masterplan to provide a phased development approach which would enable delivery of planned active and sustainable travel infrastructure in the locality (e.g. CycleConnects, Galway Transport Strategy) to be linked to the Campus as it is advanced in the future.
