Solar Farm Development at Ballymacarney

Solar Farm Development at Ballymacarney

Transport Insights is delighted to have supported Statkraft throughout the planning stage of Ireland’s largest solar farm at Ballymacarney, Co. Meath.  Transport Insights prepared a Traffic Impact Assessment and Outline Construction Traffic Management Plan, in addition to preparing a Road Condition Survey in support of the 200 Megawatt peak solar farm development, which will create enough energy to power over 40,000 Irish homes.

The development, among the very first solar farms to be constructed in the country, includes the installation of photovoltaic panels, associated electrical infrastructure (invertors, substation etc.), cable connection to the National Grid, and ancillary security and site development works on the ca. 88 hectare site.  It is projected that the solar farm will be fully operational by the end of 2022, contributing to the decarbonisation of our electricity system through the generation of clean, sustainable and predictable power to the National Grid during a time of climate crisis and energy uncertainty.

In addition to the solar farm at Ballymacarney, Transport Insights has supported Statkraft on numerous solar projects throughout Ireland in recent years.
