N56 Road Scheme Appraisal

Transport Insights’ team are delighted to be providing support to Donegal National Roads Office as part of a Fehily Timoney & Company Ltd/ Clandillon Civil Consulting Ltd Joint Venture (FTC) in relation to the proposed N56 Doonwell to Drumbrick Road Scheme.

The project, which commenced in October 2021, relates to the provision of specialist engineering, environmental, and economic appraisal services through the planning and design phases (TII Project Management Guidelines Phases 2 to 5 inclusive) for the proposed scheme, which includes road improvement works and associated active travel infrastructure.

Phase 2 (Options Selection) of the project has now concluded, and a public consultation has recently been launched by the Donegal National Roads Office in relation to the Emerging Preferred Option.

Transport Insights’ support to the project to date has comprised development and application of a Local Area Model (using Vissim microsimulation software) and transport scheme appraisal support (using TII’s Simple Appraisal Tool) to the options selection process in accordance with TII’s Project Management Guidelines and TII Project Appraisal Guidelines. Further support shall also be provided during subsequent project phases (Phases 3-5).
