Limerick Manufacturing Campus Operational Safety Review

Limerick Manufacturing Campus Operational Safety Review

Client: Johnson & Johnson Vision Care
Duration: September to October 2020

Project Summary

Transport Insights was commissioned by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care in September 2020 to undertake an Operational Safety Review of its Campus at Plassey Park Road, Limerick. The scope of the project included assessing the appropriateness of existing on-site infrastructure and identifying risks to vulnerable road users, especially those travelling on foot to/ from parking cars and the site’s environs. The Review was informed by both a desktop study and on-site audit, and undertaken in accordance with relevant best practice guidance.

The Review included an assessment of access arrangements, vehicular infrastructure, pedestrian infrastructure, road markings and signage, and identification of potential risks arising. Identified risks were categorised using a risk matrix, with an intuitive colour coded legend providing a clear exposition of the likelihood and severity of each risk. Recommendations and next steps were then set out for the Client’s consideration.

Added Value Brought to Project

To assist the Client in advancing the Review’s recommendations, each item was categorised into short-medium and long-term interventions. This enabled Client resources to be prioritised in advancing ‘quick win’ improvements, with longer-term interventions to be advanced in parallel with future on-site developments.
