Inniskeen Parking Strategy

Client: Monaghan County Council
Duration: November 2023 to February 2024
Project Summary
Transport Insights was commissioned by CS Pringle, on behalf of Monaghan County Council, to support the design of a public realm enhancement scheme within Inniskeen Village via development of a Parking Strategy for the Village.
Building upon comprehensive on- and off-street parking survey data collection, the Strategy sought to assess current car parking utilisation characteristics (occupancy and duration of stay by zone) within the Village, forecast future car parking demand, and assess the impacts of an emerging proposed public realm scheme. The parking demand forecasting exercise considered land use zoning, envisaged population growth within the Village and its hinterland, and tourism/ leisure related demand (including from the Patrick Kavanagh Centre and Monaghan Way walking route).
Added Value Brought to Project
Via comprehensive survey data collection and analysis, our project team provided an evidence base of current parking utilisation characteristics within the Village. The parking demand forecasting exercise provided a robust estimate of the Village’s likely future car parking needs, which enabled the impact of the emerging public realm scheme to be assessed.
