Elmpark Green Shuttle Bus Planning and Accessibility Review

Elmpark Green Shuttle Bus Planning and Accessibility Review

Client: Chartered Land/ Starwood Capital
Duration: June 2016 to September 2019

Project Summary

Transport Insights was commissioned to provide transport planning support in relation to the Elmpark Green Campus, a mixed-use development comprising ca. 64,000 sqm GFA of office space and ca. 440 residential units, located at Merrion Road, Dublin 4. The primary objective of the commission was to enhance the ease of employee access to the Campus, and to facilitate and enable sustainable travel choices.

Key activities included an on- and off-site site accessibility audit; online employee travel survey design, data collection and analysis; multi-modal GIS accessibility analysis; and identification of a series of effective and deliverable interventions to enhance access by active travel (walking and cycling) and public transport.

A shuttle bus feasibility assessment was undertaken in 2017, and was supported by passenger demand, and capital and operating cost analysis of various service options. A multi-modal accessibility review of the Campus was completed in 2019, and its findings were summarised within an Accessibility Statement, setting out the Campus’ accessibility attributes and available travel options.

Added Value Brought to Project

Emerging as recommendations of our work on this project, a shuttle bus service connecting the Campus to the Stillorgan Road bus corridor and a dockless bike sharing scheme were implemented, both of which enhance the Campus’ accessibility and attractiveness.
